The McKaig Nature Center is Open
USE CAUTION while on the trails, they still have significant damages from the rains of August 13th. Peter's bridge (map white 21) has been washed away.

Thank you to all who have donated to the Rebuild McKaig Park Fund  though we are still below our goal, the funds continue to be used for trail repairs and materials.
We are still in the planning stage on how to rebuild the bridge.

Updates:

Sunday, August 19
Rain, mud, silt even angry bees couldn't stop these volunteers from reversing the erosion on the trails from Monday's rains.
Thank you from everyone in the McKaig community.

Saturday, August 18
Thank you to the great group of helpers that came out today to fix the trails from Monday's rains.

We could use more help Sunday, please come out for a couple of hours starting at 9am. Visit here to RSVP. As a bonus, we will be awarding coupons to all volunteers from our great sponsor Habit Burger for a discount on a delicious meal.

Over the past few days, we've been able to fix the Cadet (blazed in white www.EnjoyMcKaig.org/map) trail from the Croton Rd trailhead to the Roberts School back gate (from marker 11 to 17).

Friday, August 17th
Though there is still much to do, the park is open once again!
(see map)

Use caution:
Please note that the trails still have significant damages from the rains of August 13th. Peter's bridge is still out, and will be for a long time. Thank you to the fantastic volunteers who have worked to reverse the damage caused by the deluge, they've spread nearly 20 tons of gravel.

The lower Brower (southeast) parking area along with the Cadet trail near the parking lot are still very washed out. It is suggested to use other parking area when accessing the park.

Again, use caution when on the trails.

The Park Needs Your Help:
We need your help with trail repairs! This Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 11am or so, volunteers will be working on the Cadet trail (and more if possible).
Please plan to join us;
we'll provide gloves, tools, bottled water and smiles of appreciation. See details and RSVP in these links:  Sat, 8/18/2018 - 9am to 11   Sun, 8/19/2018 - 9am to 11

After spending some time fixing the trails, a volunteer suggested that the Park Ranger take a dip in a pool.

Funding for future repairs:
We are already looking ahead and need your help. A fund has been established for the planning and rebuilding of the many damaged areas. On behalf of the McKaig board of directors, we would like to thank all of you who have donated already. Though we have made huge strides, far more will be needed to fund these projects to have the park back to normal. Please visit here to contribute to the:
Rebuild McKaig Park Fund

We appreciate any volunteer support and your funding this massive project. Every donation, no matter how big or small, and every volunteer has the chance to make a positive impact on McKaig. Thank you!

Peter's bridge at the "beach" has been completely swept away.

The Grossman (middle) bridge shifted off its foundation.

One of the many trails that with severe erosion which will require extensive repairs.

We appreciate your patience while we develop a plan to safely re-open the park.

Thank you for any help to fund and support this massive project. Rebuild McKaig Park Fund
