We are OPENING the park with RESTRICTIONS (below) on Thursday 4/2
(Open to McKaig Members 4/1).
Consulting with state and local park experts, we have implemented measures to help with social safety and park safety.
𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 - 6' of separation, follow CDC guidelines. Sanitize hands often.
𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 - to reduce close encounters on the parks narrower trails we have made several trails one direction only. Please print the map at www.EnjoyMcKaig.org/map
𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 - No Stream of off-trail walking, this is good for the park and also good for you. For example, poison ivy is starting to emerge.Due to the preservation of this pristine forest and streams, many species of animals and plants make their home here. For example, salamanders have just hatched along the stream banks, by dislodging rocks you risk harm to the little critters.
𝗡𝗼 𝗕𝗶𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 - the risk of injury is too great with the significant increase of park visitors.
𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗴𝘀 - There are no exceptions to this leash rule. Your dog may be friendly, but others may not be. Please be respectful and keep your dogs on a leash at all times. Bag every poop, deposit it in trash cans located at park entrances.
𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 - This may seem unnatural given that you’re outside, but many park visitors come to the park to get away from the noise of everyday life.
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗡𝗼 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗨𝗽 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵 - Encourage kids (and adults) to explore nature but not at the expense of doing harm.
"𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵" 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 - This area is next to the footbridge (map white 21) was a gathering point for too many visitors. We ask for you to continue walking the trails during your visit.
