Get ready for a spectacular celestial show! Join us for a Perseids Meteor Shower viewing over the McKaig Nature Center on Wed, August 12th at 8:30-10:30 PM.
This year, the shower is expected to peak between August 11th and 13th. With warm summer night air and no moonlight (new moon), we anticipate prime, dark-sky conditions for an incredible show.
Past years have brought us a dazzling display of fast, bright meteors, and this mid-summer night promises to be especially bountiful!
Star guide included
Bring: Camp chairs, blankets, and bug spray recommended!
Registration required: $10 per adult; children under 16 attend for free.

Have you had sacred experiences in nature? Church of the Wild is an opportunity to join kindred spirits in practicing a prayerful approach to being in the greater than human world. We start at the trail entrance near the school, then take a short hike to "the Beach" at trail marker 21 for our gathering. All are welcome.

Embark on a 2-mile historic journey within McKaig Nature Center. Discover Colonial and Revolutionary American history rooted in this very land, from the symbolism of the Tree of Liberty and the Pine Tree Riot to a 1731 Swedish Settlers Farm House. The hike culminates in tracing the route of the Continental Army‘s march to Valley Forge after the battle of Germantown in 1777. Discover the thrill of navigation under the stars! Join us on Saturday, Oct 24th with start times between 6 and 7:30p for an evening orienteering adventure at McKaig.
We‘ll have Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced courses to challenge all skill levels. Beginners are welcome – on-site instruction will be provided to get you started!
