Spring 2013 Native Plant Sale

posted Sep 25, 2012, 4:31 PM by Park Ranger   [ updated Apr 29, 2013, 6:35 PM ]

We invite you to support native species in our area!  Add beautiful native wildflowers to your home and create a sanctuary for birds, butterflies, and pollinating insects.  These hard-to-find, attractive, and hardy Pennsylvania native plants have been carefully selected by our wildlife experts to have high wildlife value, varied color, deer tolerance, and staggered bloom times.  Plant a variety of flowers and shrubs for year-round color!
This is a PRE-ORDER ONLY sale.  Pick up plants just in time for Mother’s Day!  Please note the shrubs and trees come in 1-2 gallon pots, and perennial plants come in 3” – 5” deep plastic plug containers, not pots.  Plugs have root systems that make for quick establishment and less initial watering, and they are meant to be planted directly in the ground.  Plugs are more economical than pots, allowing you to choose and plant more species in your yard!
Proceeds from this sale support native species of trees, shrubs and wildflowers at McKaig Nature Education Center.
