Upper Merion Park and Historic Foundation, the parent organization of McKaig Nature Education Center, held its Annual Members Meeting on Thursday, May 24th from 7:15 to 8:00 PM at the Roberts Elementary School Library (889 Croton Road, Wayne, PA).
The meeting began with a social time for the 30 attendees to mix and mingle, then Acting President Steve Patterson convened the formal business meeting.
Steve began with a recap of recent accomplishments including:
In 2006 a Botanical Study was done.
In 2010 an Invasive Removal Property Management Plan was created.
We realized there was a lot of work to be done and started discussing hiring an Executive Director.
Last year we hired an interim Executive Director, Vytas Masalaitis.
In the 4th quarter last year, we were in the middle of a search for an Executive Director, and thus did not have a members meeting at that time. Russ Johnson was hired January 1, 2012 as the Executive Director.
We are now looking to have a broader impact on the community, including environmental education and historic preservation and Russ is helping us achieve those goals.Our annual election was conducted. The following officers were re-elected to a new term:
